The Montage Resort, a recent addition in to Deer Valley, Utah became the site for a recent corporate retreat for Sybase, a San Francisco based software arm of SAP. The event was produced by Cerulean Events of San Francisco for executives of Sybase. Modern Expo and Events was chosen, along with Webb Audio Visual, to transform the ballroom and terrace spaces of the resort into two evenings of themed events.
For the first evening, the ballroom was transformed into an elegant awards gala space that included dinner, awards and after party for guests of Sybase. The entire ballroom was draped in black velour with an overlay drape of shimmering copper organza.
Custom ceiling chandeliers were created of strands of metallic gold string drape. Dining was laid out in two levels throughout the ballroom. One elevated level was created with plum velour banquettes, espresso chivari dining chairs and elegant crushed linens in bronze with midnight blue appliqués.
Around the perimeter of the space were groves of white birch tree trunks that were uplighted in a soft amber tone. Florals on the dining tables were created in high and low centerpiece designs, in shades of hot orange, burnt orange, and amber tones.
Flickering candle walls held an abundance of votive candles as a backdrop to the evening’s event.
Due to inclement weather, the second evening was moved to tented spaces on the terrace, overlooking the spectacular mountain views of Deer Valley and Park City.
The evening was created to be a casual, but elegant affair in tones of cream, with florals in whites and blues.
Guests were entertained by Grammy Award winning songwriter Kurt Bestor, with his 23 piece orchestra, 25 voice chorus and 15 ‘Children of Light’ from the 2002 Winter Olympic Games held in Utah. Entertainment was spirited and had Olympic overtones, with flaming contemporary Olympic cauldrons placed throughout the event space.
The evening’s event ended with a fireworks display overlooking the breathtaking canyon view below. Guests were thrilled with the event setups over the two day’s events; giving them a unique experience in the western U.S., high in the Wasatch Mountains.
